Siamese cat - needs a good home...?

I'm becoming desperate to find Spotsie a good home. We live in Northeast Ohio and our winters are rough. I've only recently learned how affectionate, how loving, how sweet this cat is because he had an injury and I brought him in the house to recouperate. He is 1-3/4 years old, a beautiful chocolate siamese with such love to give. He is litterbox trained and the sweetest animal I've ever known. I wish I could keep him, but I already have a male cat indoor who believes he owns the house! I'd be willing to bring Spotsie to somebody who'll love him, care for him and give him a chance at a good life. Isn't there somebody out there that can take him? I cannot do the APL because they no longer have a no-kill policy and there are no shelters around that have room for Spotsie. To find him a good and safe home would make for the best holiday season as that's what it's all about - helping one another and caring for one another! Thanks in advance....

People who come to shelters to adopt are very attracted to the Siamese cat and they do not have a problem getting "re-homed". At the shelter where I volunteered we had files for people looking for a particular breed of cat, for a declawed cat. I would talk to shelter people about it. Unless they are overwhelmed with unwanted animals they might be able to reassure you that they will try to find him a home. With his youth, beauty and good nature on his side he should find a new home easily.





There is a Siamese rescue organisation in St. Louis which I think you can locate by putting Siamese rescue in an internet search.


They have something like an "underground" railroad where volunteers will transport the cats from one place to a new adopter. Sometimes they go great distances - with people connecting up and making trips part of the way until they get the cat to its new home.





He sounds like a doll. How I miss my beloved Spookie who was such a great cat!





So there are two options for you to investigate. The rescue group publishes a newsletter and find homes for older cats whose owners may have died or taking care of older cats whom they cannot place. If they help you with Spotsie you should make a sizable donation to them for their support of this special breed of cat.

Reply:Try advertising on Craigslist.org. Also, try contacting Siamese Rescue (link below). They seem to be primarily concentrated in three states (not Ohio) but I think that they should be able to direct you to someone in your area -- and help you find a home for Spotsie. Good luck.
Reply:Take a real cute picture of Spotsie and do up a flyer. If you don't have the equipment to put the picture on the flyer a lot of shops will do it for you. Longs, Walmart, any copy/computer shop or photo shop. Then make copies.





Place them all over town. Post office, community centers, high school and college bulletin boards, grocery stores, Walmart bulletin board, pet shops, veterinarians, just about anywhere.





Sounds like Spotsie is worth it.





I truly hope someone here can take him--that would be the best Christmas gift for you.
Reply:the shelters who are not no kill shelters put the more unusual or younger cats up for adoption first... so Siamese cats have good chance of being adopted





did you file a FOUND report for him or check to see who lost him???





good luck - maybe try ads in the stores etc or at vets.. make sure you screen people really well... ask if they have landlords (re landlord permission)
Reply:You could type in your zipcode to http://www.petfinder.com and scan the list of shelters in your area. Most towns have no-kill cat rescue organizations that might take him. Siamese cats are desirable, and very adoptable.
Reply:There are group/forums that you can look to in your area that have people looking for things- if you check out freecycle (google it) and sign up, you might be able to find Spotsie a better home on there then on here.
