How can I stop eating when I'm hungry?

How can I get past cravings for sweets and junk food and just eating when I'm not hungry. I really want to lose 10lbs. these 10lbs. Have been horrible to lose I lost about 10 already but I want to lose 10 more lbs before winter break when i go to florida so I can be 125. I'm dieting and exercizing but I have cravings for sweets and junk food so how can I get past those cravings and not eat. I think if i stop this I will lose weight quicker

How can I stop eating when I'm hungry?
whenever i have cravings, i chew flavored gum... yup.. or divert my cravings by doing something, like play on my wii or go sit on my steps and talk to the hoodrats
Reply:Brush your teeth when you have those sweets cravings. It should knock it out.
Reply:One thing that helped me was to chew minty gum instead of reaching for the sweets. The mint flavor lasts for a long while, and sweet stuff tastes AWFUL with it!

Another tip---get rid of all that stuff. If you have to GO somewhere to get your hands on it, you probably won't bother.

Indulge yourself once in a while, or you will binge. But when you do, take a long brisk walk or a bike ride to burn it off.
Reply:First drink a glass of water 15 minutes before you eat. It takes 15 minutes for your brain to realize you have something in your stomach. This way you will be full, while eating less. For me, when i brush my teeth i don't want to eat sweets anymore. Try doing something active the next time you want to eat sweet. This way you are exersizing and completing your goal. Remember some people lose weight harder than others so don't be too hard on yourself if you don't complete your goal by the deadline. Just think about how much healthier you will be
Reply:At the rate you're going you'll gain far more pounds than you will lose. You seriously need self control. Aside from that, you need to incorporate exercise into your diet. Drinking water at the start of the day and during some of those uncontrollable cravings for snacks will help. Sometimes we are actually thirsty when we think we are hungry. You need more food in you so that you will not always be hungry. Eat every two to three hours. Not junk foods though. You need to eat healthy foods such as veggies, fiber, fruit. No matter what, stop eating after 7:00 pm.
Reply:You need self-control.

That's basically it. I can't teach you to control yourself and know what is right and wrong.
Reply:Drink more water...I drink a cup of black tea when I am feeling hungry, but know it is just that I want to snack and am not really hungry. Also, brushing my teeth helps me not want to eat anything sweet. Or you could try having some rice cakes around to snack on. Good luck losing that last bit.
