Omg...please answer?

ok...well....i really like this guy...and we've been talking alot on aim lately...and he told me that he wasn't going to the winter ball (which is next week)...but tonight i found ou that he asked someone over the weekend (the 2nd person he asked) and when i found out i asked him what was new....he is the sweetest person i've ever met, he gives me Godly advice, he seems like he has it all together...and he doesn't want a girlfriend in high school, but i REALLY like him, he is so nice and it really seems like he cares...but he told my friends that we're just friends, kind of like just classmates, and that we're not too close...i wasn't thinking he was going to ask me, but what does this mean, does it mean that he doesn't like me at all (were not that close) i feel like weve gotten to know each other pretty well, but what should i do, i really have no idea! please help me with what i should do =*(

Omg...please answer?
believe it or not but you don't know each other pretty well. you're looking at the public personality of someone. see there's two sides of people: public and private. sure you see him everyday but the fact is you don't know him as well as you think. it's carma. "we're just friends" is slang for "i like you but i'm not ready to give in". don't persue him. just let him cave in.
Reply:He's not into you... Otherwise he would of asked you... Sorry
Reply:you should not even worry about it you will find some one more special i hope maybe in time to go to the ball with and its his loss anyway
Reply:y not start off by telling him what u juz told us all........and asking him to the ball with you....
Reply:well sadly, right now he doesnt like you, thats obvious

just try to be better friends with him, dont try to make a more than friends relationship right now, just get to be his buddy
Reply:If he said you're just friends and he asked someone else to the dance, there's your answer. Don't take it too personally, there's always going to be someone you like that doesn't like you back, it's part of being young and single. You'll feel differently when you find someone new to like.
Reply:It sounds like he pretty much told how it is. He likes you but only as a friend. %26amp; as hard as it may seem, you are going to have to accept that. I remember what it is like to like someone so much just to be called friend, but a guy that gives godly advice, is worth keeping in your life, even if it is just as friends. Broken hearts heal, %26amp; keep your chin up, you never know when %26amp; if his feelings will change for the better.
Reply:There's nothing you can do really..........The dude just sees you as his friend. What more do you want to be explained? He said that you are his friend.........like classmate.........you are not close.

Stop being so flustered. You might get hurt. Try to find someone is more than willing to go with you and that you like. You will have more fun. Don't settle for this dude.........honey, you will get hurt.
Reply:Sounds like he really cherishes your FRIENDSHIP, and that's all it is to him.
Reply:Wait till you turn 17 to date.
Reply:You are all over the place with that question. The guy says he isn't going to the dance but has asked 2 people? He doesn't want a girlfriend but you're worried whether or not he likes you? Major indications: He tells your friends that you're just friends and he hasn't asked you to the winter ball. Find a guy who isn't so confusing. Know who you are and what you want, then find a guy you like who knows who he is and wants you. Dating shouldn't be so complicated. Good luck.
Reply:I think that he thinks that your just friends and that when he said that you weren't that close he meant that you weren't dating.
Reply:right now.. he just want to be your friend..

nothing else.. nothing more..

what should you do? absolutely nothing..

you can still be arround as his friend..

or else you can risk ur friendship..
Reply:Next week, you'll like some other guy, like, REALLY, a lot, and this current sweetie pie will fade quickly into the abyss that is your 16-yr-old memory. I'm 34, and when I was 16, I was this guy you're talking about -- man, am I soooo glad I never had an "official" girlfriend in high school. This was the advice I gave my now 24-yr-old sister when she was in high school -- play the field. That doesn't mean have sex with a cast of characters -- it just means don't sweat not being asked to the Winter Ball. Next month, there's another dance.

Poems - have you heard of this poem?

has anyone heard of this poem? Some things are so precious its so very hard to say until anothers judgement means a bitter parting day, and now through winters icy chill it's you my darling i think of still, though ice and snow conspire to chill your warmth and love they never will and just as the spring will dawn anew, with sweet spring flowers struggling through, I'll bid this place no fond adue to take my rightful placed to be with you. Is this a famous poem, have you heard of it and what is the meaning of it? Who's judgement do you think it refers to?

Poems - have you heard of this poem?
it might help if you put the poem in the correct form, then it would be easier to place, although. Hmn! you could try googling it like has been suggested.

this site looks useful, can't find the poem in any of my books.

Reply:Do not think much of it...smacks of late 19th century...are their capital letters in the original that might indicate Who is making he judgement?
Reply:Never heard of it.

Have you tried 'googling' the first line?
Reply:Never heard it
Reply:No i'm afraid not.
Reply:i hate that poem

my ex used to recite it all the time at dinner parties.
Reply:I can honestly say I've never heard it, although it has a particularly Robert Burns feel to it? Sorry I can't be of more help.

What do you think?

We must live through the dreary winter

If we would value the spring;

And the woods must be cold and silent

Before the robins sing.

The flowers must be buried in darkness

Before they can bud and bloom,

And the sweetest, warmest sunshine

Comes after the storm and gloom.

What do you think is a life message from this poem?

Do you know the meaning of this poem?

What do you think?
Life message: For anything in this life to be good, we must all go through hard times to appreciate the good times. If life were all rosey and cheery and spring time all year round, we wouldn't know it was good, and it would simply be mundane and plain and boring. But when we go through a hard time, a wintery time in our life, when we finally come out, we appreciate the smallest joys of spring.
Reply:For achieving happiness, and appreciate life we must also experience, and deal with the struggles of life.
Reply:Pain is inevitable.

Suffering is optional.
Reply:Accepting life defines accepting death, death means darkness,calamity,tests,and even death itself.Apparently, these are the things an individual undergoes in life which makes him emotionally and mentally strong but most importantly makes and molded him as a human.True happiness resides behind life's tormoils, it depends to a person's prerogative if he will take risk to face and successfully surpass it and feel the worth of life, than suffering from the regret for not doing it or worst not even trying. The message that this poem wants to convey is that sucess and triumph in life is sweeter when you have tasted the sourness of sorrow and sacrifice..........................johnn...
Reply:In order to appreciate or even notice one "thing", you must see the other side.........how do you know youre happy, if you have never been sad.......how great does pride feel, but only if you have felt shame......

HELP! Shakespeare poem...?

TO me, fair Friend, you never can be old,

For as you were when first your eye I eyed

Such seems your beauty still. Three winters' cold

Have from the forests shook three summers' pride;

Three beauteous springs to yellow autumn turn'd 5

In process of the seasons have I seen,

Three April perfumes in three hot Junes burn'd,

Since first I saw you fresh, which yet are green.

Ah! yet doth beauty, like a dial-hand,

Steal from his figure, and no pace perceived; 10

So your sweet hue, which methinks still doth stand,

Hath motion, and mine eye may be deceived:

For fear of which, hear this, thou age unbred,—

Ere you were born, was beauty's summer dead.

"For fear of which, hear this, thou age unbred"

I have asked this questinon many times now, but I keep getting different explainations on what this line means.

So who is he talking to?

Unbred? not born yet? is yhis what it means? is so, then who?

English is not my mother tounge.

HELP! Shakespeare poem...?
I believe he is saying that he believes that his friend is still as beautiful as he was when he first saw him three years ago (li 1 - 8); however, he recognizes that beauty may fade without him ever noticing (li 9 - 12). So, "for fear of which" (meaning, he's afraid it might be true that he can't tell that his friend is in fact aging), he addresses those to come - those whose ages have not yet been bred, or concieved - and says that before they are ever born, beauty has failed, i.e. that his friend was most beautiful and they will never get to see it.
Reply:It's Sonnet 104 by Shakespeare. He's not talking to anyone in particular, but to people of the future in general. These are people who haven't been "bred" yet, and therefore don't yet exist.

The link below has a "translation" of the sonnet into contemporary English. Hope that helps!

Why the sudden weight gain in a foreign country??

Before moving to this new country I was 5'2'' and normally between 115-120 lbs. I ate what I wanted, but was running 4-5 times a week...nothing drastic, just outside or on a treadmill until I got tired. I just moved to a new country where it is cold, and underdeveloped and now have no gym and little opportunity for physcial activity (though I try with my workout dvd's,) I am a vegetarian and eat really healthy here (when it is available, sometimes I find myself eating only apples for my fruit intake because it's all I can find!), but am still gaining weight! I've cut back on my calories, and I cut out sweets. Still, no luck...I can't explain it! Any ideas? I think I'll be fine once it warms up and I can run again, but until then I need advice, there are still a good 3 months of winter left here, and I don't want to get so far gone that it takes me a year to slim back down! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Why the sudden weight gain in a foreign country??
Its this change of environment. Are you sleeping well. That does affect your weight. Also some fruits are too high in sugar. Well I know I cant take more than 1 apple a day. Your fibre intake too might be low.

Get a lot more vegetable and see what happens. Its difficult, I know.
Reply:maybe it's the temperature. Cold temperature makes it hard to sweat a lot. How bout more water?

How does one choose a quality beer that tastes good?

I went to the grocery store tonight and looked at all the different beers they had to choose from. I'm not talking about the general beers that most know of. I am referring to the high quality beers from all different parts of the world. It was very difficult for me to decide on one beer out of all the different ones. It's sort of like choosing a fine wine I suppose. What are the main differences between gourmet beers to look for? I like the less thick, lighter, sweeter beers, not the heavy stout bitter ones. Does anyone have any reccommendations on how to choose a good beer? Tonight I took a gamble and went with Heavy Seas' "Winter Storm" ale. It's a bit strong for my tastes, but it has a nice kick. Any help would be appreciated.

How does one choose a quality beer that tastes good?
I used to spend an hour picking out a beer, I completely understand where you are coming from.

What I used to do:

1. Stand in the aisle look like an idiot

2. Finally just ask myself what type of beer I was in the mood for.

3. Pick beer from above category at random.

What I do know:

1. Stand in the beer aisle look like an idiot.

2. Whip out my blackberry and cruise over to http://beeradvocate.com

3. Read reviews and look at ratings.

PS. I used to love going to the Winking Lizard when I lived in Cleveland. They just got a mention on http://www.whysoserious.com/ the Dark Knight/Joker web page. And I personally have tried to limit my trips to ratebeer.com as of late. I've done several side by side comparisons between BA and RB.. I've found that RB has become too snobby as of late.
Reply:beeradvocate.com is a good website to look at. Also try ratebeer.com, people from all over the world come to this site to rate beers, you can find any beer on there and many different descriptions of the beer. It will also have a rating, anywhere from 1 percentile to 100 percentile. The funny thing is, the most well known beers (Budweiser, Miller, Coors) have the worst rating. People actually call them "Drain Pours", as in pour it down the drain and don't drink it.
Reply:Check out

http://www.beeradvocate.com

You could get lost there for days.

Here's what others had to say about your beer:

http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/898...

You can also read up on different styles, etc.
Reply:save up your pennies, and go to a bar that serves LOTS of good beers, such as the winking lizard chain in Ohio ( columbus and cleveland at least) and read the menu of beers ( they have like 100) and try the ones that SOUND good.. every one has diferent tastes, I like india pale ales and a few darker beers ( bass, killeans)
Reply:Start at this website...... looks good, and will probably take you other places. Good Luck.

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story...
Reply:Just like buying fine wine, you need to taste test.

Find a good vintner, someone who knows there wines; beers and spirits.

Read the labels, buy a few bottles of differing types and see what you like.

For you I would suggest some blondes. Try some Belgium or German beers. I prefer bitters. But I am told Leffe is a good Belgium blonde. Certainly readily available in the UK.

Go to a beer festival or two and talk and taste.
Reply:Trial and error is the fun of it! I try a new 6 pack every few weeks.

My hub likes Grolsch and Elephant and I like Sam Adams Winter Lager lately.

Have fun!
Reply:I subscribe to Beer Advocate and recommend it however...

The best way to choose a quality beer that tastes good is to learn more about beer and drink more beer. Find a brewery or brew pub, preferably one that offers tours. Take the tour, listen to the information they give you and ask questions. After the tour taste a variety of their beers and ask more questions. Also, tours tend to be very inexpensive ($3-$5) or free.

Then, find another brewery or brew pub and do it again*. And again. Practice makes perfect.

Attend a local beer festival. http://www.beerfestivals.org/ Sample everything and ask the brewery reps questions.

Finally, find a good liquor store with a knowledgeable staff that likes beer.

*I have found this is very easy in Milwaukee, WI and Denver/Fort Collins, CO. Your mileage may vary.
Reply:It sounds like you would probably enjoy a hefenweizen. Its a little sweeter with a himt of lemon or orange. You would probably want to stay away from lagers, porters, IPAs, stouts, etc. I sometimes enjoy hefenweizens (I'm not really into sweet beers), but I stay away from German Hefenweizens because they tend to taste like bologna. If you like sweet, you can also go for a Belgium beer, which is sweet but still has a strong beer flavor. You can also go for a belgium Lambic. Usually these beers are very sour, but often have sugar added. Try Lindemans Lambic which is sweet, sour, crisp, and fruity. It is still a beer. not a wine cooler.

I am on a diet. Is it okay to eat honey?

I am on a diet and have cut out all sweets, sugar. Is it okay to eat honey? Does it metabolize into fat? I know it is 70 calories per tablespoon, and each has 15 grams of sugars, and I know bears eat honey to get fat for winter... but is it bad to consume a lot of honey when on a diet? By the way, the honey I have is raw, uncooked and unstrained, right from the hive.

I am on a diet. Is it okay to eat honey?
The sugar in honey metabolizes the same as sugar from any other source. It is no better or worse to use honey as a sweetener than to use sugar. The processing (or lack thereof) is immaterial.

There is no denying this poem needs serious help!...?

Carried away

On the winds of time

To dance

With the song of the swallow

On the words of forever.

To glide

As shimmering moonlight

On the black waters

Of memory

And whisper through air

As the sweet perfume

That clings

To the bud of a rose.

Wrapping the senses in radiant beauty

To be left to struggle

`Gainst blackened thorns

When it fades

At winters gate.

Ensnared for life

In the piercing grasp

While all around

Dance echoes

Of lost love.

A cry of pain rebounding

In the valley

A wolfs lament

To the ailing orb of loss.

A shadow stretches on

Past all deceasing

And sings the song

That never shall be sung.

The rhythm needs help. I tried to do that myself and failed. And the end... If anyone has a sugestion on that, PLEASE SHARE! Regarding the poem itself, comment and tell me what it needs to make it bearable. It might have potential, but if you cannot help me with it, it will not. Blech.

Thanks.

There is no denying this poem needs serious help!...?
This is actually quite nice. It does not need serious help, just a little fine tuning. When you write in free verse, it is probably best to avoid using archaic terms, like `Gainst. Against would do as well and blend better with your style.

You should add an apostrophe to wolfs.

Read this poem aloud. Without punctuation, it is difficult to read this aloud because there are no natural places to break. This appears to be two very long sentences. Try breaking it up, creating sentences that convey complete thoughts, and allowing the reader to grasp those thoughts separately.

You have a little work to do on this, but not much. Preserve as much of your original as possible during your rewriting process.

Well done, so far. I would like to see your changes.
Reply:Don't change it. Rhyme or not, it's extremely good. It flows well, and the description is very very good. But when it says "Wrapping the senses in radiant beauty," I find it would be a tad better if it were a few words in a phrase. Such as:

Wrapping the senses

In radian beauty

I find that would work better than it all together. Keep writing, i enjoyed this piece. :]
Reply:I'm denying it.

Fine tuning and serious help are a world apart, darling O head. Listen to the people and their suggestions. Because I agree with them to the ends of the earth and beyond.
Reply:Poetry is art. Let it be.
Reply:it does not make sense to me.. i dont really go for all that stuff.. i mean yeah its okay. but i dont really like it.

soap opera

Is my poem okay or is it just another cliche love poem?

The scarlet winds of springtime

breathes life into these frozen wings of winter.

Oh, how these once icy tears

used to weep through my eyes!

But now I know no sorrow;

all my troubles melt away.

For into your open arms of warmth,

a smile says, I'll stay.

Hey, butterfly. Butterfly, flutter by

and draw a rainbow for these gracious skies.

No troubled cloud is able to cry

for you, butterfly.

So fly with me through the summer and the fall

when those lazy leaves can day-dream

while our two souls soar on the trickling breeze

through the troughs and trees.

And all our thoughtless troubles

will be a thousand miles away.

And i'll be able to open my wings and fly

with your sweetest smiles that say,

Hey, butterfly. Butterfly, flutter by

and draw a rainbow for these gracious skies.

My troubled clouds won't cry a touch of rain

for you fly with so much love, little butterfly.

Is my poem okay or is it just another cliche love poem?
The only part I found to be overly cliche is the second stanza. I like the sort of refrain of the poem. I particularly like the line, "Hey butterfly. Butterfly, flutter by." I just find it really neat.

Do you like this little part of my book?

Erin and the Reaper

It was a cold winters night. Erin had just finished writing her fan-fiction. It was thundering and lightning.The power went out then Erin got scared so she ran upstairs to her room.

"Mom!" she yelled, "Can you bring me a flashlight?!" Erin lay down on her bed trying to make herself tired.

Erin's mom opened the door, "Here you go sweet heart." she walked over to Erin. "Ya know," Erin knew she was going to say something about her childhood, "When I was you age... I wrote books too. My first one-hundred page was titled The Wretched. It was about--"

"Can I just go to sleep please?" Erin interrupted.

"Sorry." Erin's mom said in a disappointed voice. She walked out of the room with a slouch and closed the door.

~~~
An hour later Erin had just gotten to sleep when she felt a breeze that woke her up. She opened her eyes. Above her was a floating man in a robe that looked rotted. He moved very majestically but she couldn't see his face.
"Who are you?" Erin whispered. She was too terrified to speak.
"I..." he said in a low, scratchy voice that made Erin cringe, "I am the Grim Reaper!"
Erin rolled out her bed and onto the floor. She looked out of the window and Charles (her boyfriend) was outside with a rock. He threw it and it hit the Grim Reaper in the head. "Jump out!" Charles yelled.
She jumped just before the Grim Reaper got up. Erin landed on Charles but they quickly got up and started running.
"We have to get to the Brothers Grimm building." Charles said.
"I've never heard of it in my life." Erin grabbed Charles's hand and they were in front of the building. "I don't remember that being there." Erin said
Do you like this little part of my book?
I think that the beginning needs more detail.
Give us some describing words about her surroundings.
Is she in her parent's room?
Is she in the den?
Living room?
Hotel lobby?
Toilet room of a Trucker's stop?
We have no way of knowing.
Instead of "she ran upstairs to her room." You could say somehting like "bounded upstairs" or "shot through the dark"
I would just suggest to being more descriptive.
Reply:Well overall its an interesting concept. but your writng has room to be improved i give it a six because lines like my boyfriend charles hit him in the head with a rock, and erin got scared, aren't very interesting or descriptive what are the chances charles will be there? Or hit the grim reaper with a rock. Brothers grimm building??
i am a writer. so here an excerpt from my first chapter a really long one.
CHAPTER ONE - TRAINING
“Listen now, my apprentice, you must relax. Listen,”
Where I sat was familiar, a dimly lit, cold, empty space. A pungent smell wavered in the room, making the inside of my nose burn. The walls had clearly been carved out many years ago, considering the crumbling stone and damp mossy feel. The vibe exerting itself was depressing and I sat quietly, patiently in the center of the chamber.
“You must learn, my apprentice, pain. There is no pain here, but you must learn,” Elder Pluyuut spoke in a soft and soothing voice. In his attempt to calm and prepare me it had only made me more apprehensive. He circled my chair watching my odd reactions. Every word he spoke stabbed at me.
Complaining the whole time.
My pained self conscience continued telling me to run, run while I still could. This isn’t meant for you, it whispered in my ear, just as gently as Elder Pluyuut whispered around me. Run, Lea, you still can it taunted me.
Maybe it wasn’t meant for me, but the Elders believed it was. The Elders were always right, which is why there was an abundance of respect for them. Elder Pluyuut quieted down momentarily, letting me breathe.
“Lea, my dearest, are you ready?” He was standing behind me, out of my view. The straight, wooden chair had my slender wrists sealed to it tightly, along with my neck. I tensed up at the words, are you ready? I was not ready, I would never be ready. Ready for what? I had a second of sensibility, and looked at the possibility I was freaking out over nothing. It was merely a second though, gone in a flash.
I had a sword above my head, the promise I made to the clan, to the elders. At the sound of no the rope would be cut, a sure death. A promise broken.
But was death worse the pain I might endure?
“Lea, I said are you ready?” impatience lined his sensitive tone.
“No, I’m not, “I whispered, inaudible. My skin crawled with the thought of what was to come; I bit down on my lip, hard. I had to keep myself from screaming out in fear. Elder Pluyuut glided back into view on my right side. I shot a glance over at him trying desperately to figure out what he was thinking. Panic was caked visibly in my expression. His hard face scanned the floor, as if the words he was looking for were scattered on the stone. As his dried lips parted I held my breath.
“Congratulations, my novice,” Elder Pluyuut nodded slowly, shutting his charcoal eyes, “you have no need for my teaching today.” I looked back at him, no need? My mouth dropped open. Relieved and astonished, I started to cry, but I had no reason to be blubbering. Crying was for those who had been hurt, and I’d been nothing more than threatened with pain. I was in perfect health. I should save my tears for someone who needed them, someone who deserved them. Yet, with every drop the pressure was lifted off my shoulders.
I brushed the tears off of my rosy cheeks. My throat was sore from keeping it all in so long; with one last yelp I was finished.
My deep blue eyes lingered in his, questioning. Elder Pluyuut winced quickly and sighed, the face of my mentor was overly scarred, even compared to Jaela. He looked up again from the dark floor. I searched his exterior for his thoughts again, a futile attempt.
He could hide his emotions perfectly, a skill that must be helpful. A skill I wished I had.
“Leandra, I have tried to teach you to accept and endure pain.”
“But,” He looked away again, shaking his head, obviously dumbfounded by whatever I’d done now, “You caused yourself pain. You have taught yourself Lea, to accept it and I’ve taught you all that I could. You will surely figure out the rest of it. One more week Lea, no more, no less. I cannot train you any further. There’s only one question. Are you ready?” He turned around to face me, eyes suddenly glistening red.
“Are you ready yet?” Jaela whined from the kitchen. I sat up abruptly in my bed, my breathing uneven. I sighed, happy to be awake, and wiped the sweat off my creased brow. I looked around, my same bland, wooden walls were in place, my bed was creaking as usual and I still had my locket slung around my neck. It was a memory, just a dream.
I flipped my feet onto the floor.
Reply:i'd say.. around a five?
i don't want to be too harsh especially since my writing sucks, but it seems a lot like you got some of it off goosebumps, or r l stine books. maybe that's just a coincedence, and i think it's good, but it could be better, like the writing part, not the plot.
when you're done writing the whole thing, read over it, because chance are, by the time you're done the book, your writing will have improved and you'll look over the first parts and think how weak it is compared to your newer writing style.
my writing is crap, though i try :(
here's a little excerpt:
The only memory Yale Campbell could recall from her childhood, was eating dirt when she was four. It was a dare from Nate Winchester, and she never backed down on a dare. After several mouthfuls of dirt, her stomach gave way and she began puking it all up. Nate held her hair back so she wouldn’t get vomit all over it and gave her his only juice box. He apologized for making her do that, but she didn’t mind. She’d done it because her best friend asked her to and she’d do anything for him.
if i was harsh, sorry, but i hope my criticism helps out.
just be a little more descriptive and use a lot of variations for commonly used words like said.
Reply:Err... I'd give it a six.
You could have used more description, it sound similar to the Grim adventures of Billy and Mandy. Expand your vocabulary a bit. The beginning, the most important part, wasn't interesting. You should include more drama.
Here's a bit edit:
An hour later Erin had just gotten to sleep when she felt a breeze that woke her up. She looked at the window and saw it closed. she tucked into her bed. She heard a sound, nothing was moving. Erin hesitantly looked up, she saw an floating object of some sort.
After a moment she realized it was someone in a black robe- like the villains she saw in the movies, she tried to see his face. She couldn't, the man looked down as if he was wearing a sinister smile.
Erin got out of her bed and held her lamp steady. "Who-" Erin gulped, she was shaking harshly. "Who are you?" she asked in a frightened voice. The man floated majestically, all that Erin could hear was an omnious laugh,
Losing Belly Fat?
So I'm 18 years old, and gained a bit of a belly from Winter and sitting in the house.
Spring/Summer/Fall I'm very active, and I usually lose it off. However, I'm trying to get a 6 pack.
So for the past month or so I've been running a mile, doing a mild workout for about 20 minutes, then drinking a protein shake. I've been gaining muscle and I've lost quite a bit of belly fat and some off my waistline.
I eat healthy, drink a lot of water, and I don't eat sweets/junk or drink pop.
I am trying to lose it a bit faster. What would you recommend? Running more?
Losing Belly Fat?
When we want to get rid of body fat, there is no way to specifically burn fat from one part of the body. Doing situps won't burn the fat that is covering your abs and doing tricep extensions won't get rid of the fat that is covering your triceps. The only thing you can do is lose weight all around and eventually the problem area will also improve. The way to burn fat is through a calorie restricted diet in conjunction with an exercise routine that will burn calories. Activities that burn calories include running, biking, swimming and other high intensity activities.
Guide to Reducing Body Fat - http://straighthealth.com/pages/guides/r...
Reply:Dairy, eggs, corn, peanuts, and yeast if you take these foods away for 7 days you will lose weight automatically.
Consume fewer calories than are needed to maintain the body’s weight at the normal level of activity.
Consume the number of calories needed to maintain the body’s weight but increase activity.
Consume fewer calories and increase activity. Calories measure the fuel value, or heat energy, provided by food for body functions. In order to lose one pound, a person must consume 3,500 fewer calories.
Reply:Everyone thinks that high intense exercises help burn body fat. This can be true if you enjoy working out 5 hrs+ a day. Other than that i recommend you get on that tredmill set the MPH at 3.0 and set the incline around 7.5-8.0. you want to get your heart rate around 130 for about 30-40 mins a day. this is the specific "Fat Burning Zone". You will notice a significant difference if you do this for a peroid of time
I'm really worried!!! HELP?
I think I might be pregnant. When did everyone else start experiencing symptoms of pregnancy? I started feeling "different" 7 days after I had unprotected sex on February 10 (last day of my last period). I got a dull headache a week after sex in the back of my head, that still hasn't gone away. Now I have nausea but no vomiting, dizziness, low back pain, pressure/tugging feeling in lower abdomen, some abdominal cramping, very tired, craving sweets when I used to crave salts, not being able to be around certain smells and foods that I used to love, moodiness/irritability, memory problems, and I'm having sinus infection symptoms as well but I usually only get sinus infections after a week or so of having really bad allergies and I haven't had bad allergies all winter. Is it too early to be feeling all of these symptoms ?? How likely is it for me to get pregnant on the last day of my period?? When should a home pregnancy test show positive if I'm really pregnant?
I'm really worried!!! HELP?
It is a bit early to be feeling some of these symptoms. I'm in that horrible waiting game. If you had unprotected sex during your ovulation, 11-16 days after your period, then there is a high chance. Since it was the last day of your period, you have a smaller chance of being pregnant. I have nausea, cramping, and very sore breasts. I have had my period since I had sex, so that made me feel a bit better.
If you are pregnant, wait until 3 days after your missed period. You will deffinantly be producing enough HCG to show up positive on a test.
Reply:it does sound like you are freaking yourself out here...you ovulate on or around the 14th day of your cycle, but remember...sperm can live inside you for up to 4 or 5 days after sex. there is no sure-fire way to know untill you take a test, but try not to stress until you know for sure. you can take a early -response test 5 days before your expected period date, but those are not always very accurate. they are measuring the hcg level (pregnancy hormone) in your body, and the earlier it is, the lower the hormone level, so i would wait till you actually miss your period to take a DECICIVE test. you would hate to take it too early and have a false negative or positive. gl.
Reply:Typically you ovulate on around the 14th-16th day of your cycle (day 1 is the day you start your period) It is possible, but that is the norm, and you can only get prego when u are ovulating. You could take a test now, just get the Early Response ones...it has been 17 days since you had sex.
Reply:IT MAY BE TO SOON FOR A HOME TEST BUT YOU CAN TRY AN EPT TEST OVER THE COUNTER .THEY ARE THE BEST.IF IT SHOWS NEGATIVE YOU NEED TO SEE A DOCTOR.SOMETHING SERIOUS MAY BE WRONG.I DON'T MEAN TO SCARE YOU .
Reply:i am really sorry for your situation. sorry i am a guy so i cant help you
Reply:Wait until you date of your period if you period has not come yet them take a test...but those are some pregnancy symptoms....but symptoms usually come 2 weeks after you've concived.....
Reply:7 days would be the earliest you'd really feel any symptoms, so it's possible. You could get pregnant on the last day of your period, it just depends on when you ovulated that cycle. If you're starting to have symptoms, you could take a test. If it's negative, give it at least a week before re-testing.
Reply:Take a home pregnancy test. There is no time during your cycle when you are exempt from getting pregnant, and even on the last day of your period, it is very possible. You are describing classic symptoms of pregnancy, but you could also be over-analyzing things and making yourself believe you are experiencing them. You may want to wait until you miss a period before taking a home test. If you're really concerned, see a doctor.
Reply:Sometimes when you are worried about being pregnant, you become extra paranoid that every symptom you have is pointing towards you being pregnant. It's the same concept as if you want a red car, then all of a sudden you start noticing all these red cars. It's just a mind thing. Although I have heard of women *knowing* they were pregnant before they found out.
I would take a test in a few weeks, and then another a week after that (you can take one more a week later just to be extra sure). If they all show up negative, you can breath a little easier.
Reply:take a test 5 days before and after ur next period, or when u expect it. dont forget the second one
Reply:you normally wont show any signs for about a month. your just freaking yourself out. and a test will show about 5 days before your first missed period
Can anyone tell me where to find a large styrofoam box in Kansas?
Here's the deal. My next door neighbors have a cat that is the sweetest thing this side of sugar. However, he's a terrible owner and should not have this cat. He keeps her outside regardless of the weather (and in case you are unaware, it gets really cold and snowy here in the winter and rainy in the spring).
I bought a plastic tote box and cut a hole in it and made a little bed to put inside so at least the poor kitty is out of the elements. However, when it's rainy or the wind is blowing hard with the snow, the inside gets wet.
I have a new design idea, but it would be much easier with a styrofoam box vs hard plastic. Problem? Can't find a stinking styrofoam box.
Any ideas? I've scoured the net already.
Thanks ahead of time!
Can anyone tell me where to find a large styrofoam box in Kansas?
Youre such a nice person!
I'm doing the same thing as you are, but I haven't had to look for styrofoam yet because we had lots of extra styrofoam insulation just sitting around our basement. I'v made 2 shelters already and am having people put them in their back yards. I live in Canada and I can guarantee you it gets WAY colder here than in Kansas! :) but I think you have a heart of gold.
I'v heard that you can get styrofoam at electronics stores (they wrap tv's in them) and possibly appliance stores (there they wrap fridges in them. But there are tons of ideas for outdoor cat shelters that you can find online.
Reply:Kansas does rock! Lived here my whole life and wouldn't live anywhere else! Kansas, for those who don't know has CITIES and SUBURBS. We have all four seasons. We have HILLS. It's not all flat and wheat. And Toto was a dog in a movie. Report It
Reply:I wounder if you could make one out of a litterbox with a lid?
Reply:We have one of the plastic totes too and the outdoor cats use it. Turn the opening away from the wind direction and make sure the box is sheltered next to a bush, this really reduces the amount of moisture that gets inside.
Styrofoam won't last--if you have ANY squirrels in the area they'll be dismantling it as soon as they find it.
If you need a warmer inside, put a box that's just a tad smaller than the inside of the tote, cut a hole in it to match up with the hole in the tote, and stuff folded newspapers under it and around three sides. This reflects heat back. We also put a piece of foam rubber in the bottom of the cardboard box and fold the two towels over it. The cats find this perfect.
Reply:im not sure where, but if you made some sort of house with a door like a doggy door. I have a cat, and we made a house out of wood and covered the wood with carpet. i dont think that styrofoam would work anyways: it can blow away, it wont keep the cat warm and the cat might rip it apart
Reply:don't use styrofoam, if kitty chews on it, she could choke. try something in the pet store, they usually have tons of different things. if you can't do that, try placing the box so that the opening is near a building, not too close. that way the wind will not get around and blow rain in. hard to stop snow tho, because of accumulation. you could cut the hole higher up if you have another box to spare.
Reply:haha.. no one lives in kansas. and plus.. wouldn't toto the dog scare your kitty away?
Reply:Id say your best bet is to but a styrofoam picnic basket thing. You might be able to find one at Homedepot or some where liek that!
Good luck !! :)
Reply:Try going to a UPS store, they might have some.
Or abandon that idea, and get the cat a small doghouse. If you face it away from the wind, and put a warm bed in there, the cat could come and go and stay warm. I'm aware that the wind changes, but there is usually a pretty general direction, or maybe face it towards your house (with space inbetween for the cat to crawl in) so the house blocks most of the wind. Keep it out there, because this will help him in the rain, and this has been a terribly unpredictable winter.
I would just like to say Kansas rules! Lived here my whole life, and while I would like to maybe live in another state when I'm older, my loyalty will always lie here.
Weight loss advice please...I'm desperate!!!?
Hello
I'm 22, girl, 5'10 and 165lbs, and its all in my thighs and stomach. I don't want to be thin, just a flat stomach.
I'm extremely athletic, snowboarded most of the winter, and at the gym 5-6 times a week for at least an hour, i do both cardio and weights. I kickbox, do a lot of eliptical (can't run cuz i had a leg injury), lots of crunches (reverse, sides), push ups are always a must. I've tried changing up my excerise to make sure my body is not used to it. I feel awesome, and i'm in great shape, i just don't look it.
I've changed my eating habits completely, small meals often, no soda, no chips. I do eat sweets but in moderation, i barely drink. I've done calorie calculations and i'm usually around 1300-1500 calories per day.
Does anyone have any advice for me please? I've been really active for 2 years and haven't even lost a pound. I know if i lost the weight i'd maintain it, is there a diet that i could try or something?
Thanks everyone.
Weight loss advice please...I'm desperate!!!?
The only think I can suggest is trying to do Interval training when you are doing cardio... you burn 9 times more fat than moderate cardio. Or it could be that you are at your ideal weight and can't lose anymore. If you are really desperate, you should get a check up from a doctor so (s)he can tell you if you need to lose weight
Good luck and congrats on the hard work
Reply:this may seem stupid but it works. welll for a flat stomach suck in your abs and hold and lean forward.
How is my poem from 1-10?
and maybe even leave a comment, if u want.
The scarlet winds of springtime
breathes life into these frozen wings of winter.
Oh, how these once icy tears
used to weep through my eyes!
But now I know no sorrow;
all my troubles melt away.
For into your open arms of warmth,
a smile says, I'll stay.
Hey, butterfly. Butterfly, flutter by
and draw a rainbow for these gracious skies.
No troubled cloud is able to cry
for you, butterfly.
So fly with me through the summer and the fall
when those lazy leaves can day-dream
while our two souls soar on the trickling breeze
through the troughs and trees.
And all our thoughtless troubles
will be a thousand miles away.
And i'll be able to open my wings and fly
with your sweetest smiles that say,
Hey, butterfly. Butterfly, flutter by
and draw a rainbow for these gracious skies.
My troubled clouds won't cry a touch of rain
for you fly with so much love, little butterfly.
How is my poem from 1-10?
It sounds like you just got a whole heap of nice words, and picked any way possible to jam them all into the one poem. Instead of writing out of inspiration and meaning, its more about the words. But you've got the patterning of writing a poem right. All you need is true motivation for the words you choose.
Wenchy female cat--what do I do?
Long story short, a then best friend dumped her 2 cats on me last year (Reesie and Zeppelin). I have a cat of my own (mini-me) who I love to death. He is the sweetest cat ever! Anyway, when I moved in with my boyfriend and his dog, the one female cat (who is not spayed) started turning really mean to my cat. It's gotten to the point that all through the winter, he wouldn't come inside at all. I tried to set him inside, and he would just rip through the house, back out the dog door.
I finally figured out that Reesie (cat that was dumped on me) refuses to share "her" house with him. I tried to take Reesie to the shelter, as she is just downright mean, but they were all full. It's now to the point where mini-me has scratches all over him from getting in fights with raccoons, etc (I assume this is it since we live in the country), and there's nothing I can do to stop this! How can I get Reesie to be nice and get Mini-me to stay inside?
Wenchy female cat--what do I do?
spay spay spay---this will calm the aggression down a bit. All animals act differently in new situations...it could be the stress of moving that has the cats acting up. Start with the spaying though---and while the cat is gone--try to bring the other inside...comfort him and show him that everything is okay. If the female still acts up---keep checking your local no-kill shelters...she may be so stressed that she can't acclimate and needs to be in a one cat family.
Reply:I agree with Casey........SPAY that cat!
Why you didn't have her spayed as soon as she was "dumped" on you, is a mystery. Females are very territorial, and an "unspayed" (intact) female is the WORST!
Do what you have to, to be able to bring your "mini-me" back into the house. He's gonna get himself killed. BTW...you didn't say if he's neutered. I assume he is, or you'd have kittens (with Reesie) by now!
Good luck.............
Reply:get her spayed
Reply:Most of this will disappear if all cats are fixed!!!
Reply:Saw the problem straight away
SHE IS NOT SPAYED !!
Get her done and she should calm down abit.
Reply:what i think u shoud do with ressie is that u shoud put her in a cage (diescent sized) and give her food and u shoud get mini-me by going outsside to comfort her and give her food and pick her up and see what happens
Weight maintaining in the christmas season?
start developing self-control...try shedding some weight as early as now....take medications like Orlistat (Xenical) so that the fats you ingested won't be absorbed by your system...
what should i do? my gf broke up with me after this arguement. she claims that cant go anymore with this cause when i get angry i insult her verbally. i got angry over a email i wrote to her last night which i spent 1 hour n 1/2 on.tell her thing like "my sunshine that clear my darkest skies.my shinning star.my superwoman that rescue me.the most beautifulest rose my garden..the sweetest candy in my candy bowl.the only glowing star in my horizon.my sunshine in the summer..my survivor in the fall..my warmth in the winter..my blossom in the spring..n finally my love. " i sat there thinking of these thing for over an hour.i got upset after i realize she read the email and never reply saying "thank you" alteast.she manage to write me a message on my myspace after reading the email but didnt reply to my email sayin thanks..this upset me alot because this
What should i do?
First thing you should do is take an English class. What the hell is "beautifulest"????
Next, get over your insecurities. So she didn't say "thanks". BIG DEAL!
Grow up, learn to speak and write the language properly, and, um, grow up.
Reply:maybe she thinks you're smothering her? try backing off for a bit
Reply:and how long have u been dating her? could you possibly have scarred her?
Reply:some people they don't like too sweet because they think it's weird talk to her normally maybe she'll be OK with that.
Reply:So did you insult her after you were upset that she didn't respond? There's no law that says she has to be your girlfriend, if she doesn't want to be with you then get over it, there's nothing you can do.
P.S. - If you are insulting to girls/women, you better get used to being dumped.
Reply:Anger is not an emotion.. it is a response -- almost always a response to fear (whether or not consciously acknowledged.) So you have a need for her acknowledgment that she didn't provide. The unmet need triggers abandonment issues, which trigger fear. Our "fears" are real or imagined; they are rational or not; the are useful or un-productive.
The "fear" should be a warning sign of an un-met need. So don't respond to the fear, but to the un-met need, and you must determine how important is the need? Is it even real? or maybe transferance? Once you know the 'need' .... you can CHOOSE how to respond.
If you can work thru this yourself, great. But I needed help to learn that I have a choice in how I react to things, and that my actions were always consistent with my assumptions which were based on my beliefs. You see, I believe I'm hot $#!* and assume other people think so, too. And when the don't react the way I want them to, then either they are wrong or I am wrong. I never want to look at myself, so I took the easy path - it was THEM. Not me! Do you see the weak point in my logic? Well, I do, too. And my life is much happier now.
Reply:Let her miss you....You sound like a mushy mushy kind of guy...My suggestion is cool off the mushy stuff, and let her miss you a bit. Do your own thing, don't pick-up her call every time she calls. Wait 2-3 days to reply to her emails. approach the relationship nonchalantly, and get the reaction you want. However, know games are not best for real love, you may want to just invest in a relationship with a woman who would appreciate your mushy side.
Reply:Did you complement her only to receive praises yourself? Do you verbally abuse her? Just because you write a flowery email doesn't mean you are a man of character and integrity if you turn around and berate her for not reciprocating.
So what that you spent a hour and a half giving her fancy words when your actions don't back them up. That means they are fluff. Empty. Hollow. If she were my daughter and you talked ugly to her I would advise her to have nothing to do with you and I would advise her father to see a face to face meeting with you.
You need to remember that she is someones precious child and your have no business verbally insulting her.
Bipolar mind what do u think of this poem?
revealing
Reply:its more like prose 6/10
Edit: Actually I read it again and liked it more this time, you do have a talent you can develop.
You really need to run a spell check before you send stuff out (berried?). Im not at all sure about using ampersands and if your not going to put it verse then at least use paragraphs. Keep it up youll get there!
Reply:THAT IS a beautiful poem. Thats exactly how my mind feels. You are very talented. Thank You
Reply:Yes, it does need a little tweaking but not too much. I prefer raw talent over polished any day! Something gets lost when one refines their craft too much! Keep writing, expressing oneself is the best therapy in the world!
Reply:A good title for this poem would be "Inside A BiPolar Mind". I found it very good, loved the fantasies you added. Very describtive and holds my attention, couldn't wait to read the next line! If this was written in block form, it would be better understood. Like for instead:
My heart is black and whispers in the midnight wind,
My soul flies inside your spirit
Do you feel me breathe with you as you lie still?
ok, you get the idea. Not changing anything at all, just making it easier to read. You have a lot of talent and I love the way you are describing going in circles, trying to make them square, it is like trying to make sense of what is going on inside your head. Great writing here. Check your spelling twice and join a poetry group for more feedback and to get tips on writing. You have talent, don't waste it.
Reply:I'm sorry sweetie.. From the very first line it is desperately cliche and self loathing... Sounds like you're trying too hard to be Amy Lee? All it lacks is Lithium or some other reference to mental illness and/or co dependency?
Not good stuff. Very immature content that doesn't allow one to get past it, to what you are actually feeling for how you are incorectly expressing it. (Unless you Are a cliche personality) but even then, it still needs work...
You are young...and I too remember writing like this... It will get better. Remember poetry is like a fine gemstone, the more you polish it the better it shines and shows your reflection. Keep trying and keep polishing it.
Reply:take this link u have talent so keep writing http://www.poemhunter.com
Reply:I liked it . It is like looking in a mirror. Keep up the good work.
Could you please help me with this poem? this is my waterloo anyway...?
SONNET 104
To me, fair friend, you never can be old,
For as you were when first your eye I eyed,
Such seems your beauty still. Three winters cold
Have from the forests shook three summers' pride,
Three beauteous springs to yellow autumn turn'd
In process of the seasons have I seen,
Three April perfumes in three hot Junes burn'd,
Since first I saw you fresh, which yet are green.
Ah, yet doth beauty, like a dial-hand,
Steal from his figure and no pace perceived;
So your sweet hue, which methinks still doth stand,
Hath motion and mine eye may be deceived:
For fear of which, hear this, thou age unbred;
Ere you were born was beauty's summer dead.
1. The speaker begins by saying that his fair friend cannot age. The passage of three years has left him apparently unchanged. Yet the speaker faces the supposition that his friend has perhaps changed, though imperceptibly. Do these lines contradict and weaken the emphatic statements with which the poem begins?
Could you please help me with this poem? this is my waterloo anyway...?
Try looking on Shakespeare sites before asking on here. Well in this sonnet, 104, his last couplet is addressing future generations that the height of beauty died before they were even born. No the lines do not weaken the message. They are just fooling Shakespeare that no time has passed. The tone may be one of assurance because he assures his lover that nothing about him has changed at all. But the tone could be one of solemness.
Crooked Teeth
Why is my (flea-free) cat covered in scabs?
For years, my kitty has been absolutely covered with small scabs under her healthy coat. Both summer and winter. I never see any fleas or flea dirt. They are not from scratching or fighting. They seem to form vertically from a very small sore, as if a tiny sore just continuously wept the stuff scabs are made from, causing the scab to get bigger and bigger from below. Gross. I don't want my cat to be gross!
I took her to the vet a year ago and she was given a cortisone shot. The scabs disappeared but came back 6 weeks later. The vet said cortisone shots are bad on the liver. The vet ruled out mange, though I forget why. She said it was basically impossible to know why this is happening.
Allergies? Anybody else's cat have this?
By the way, this is the sweetest, must cuddly and tolerant cat EVER.
Thanks!
Samatha
Why is my (flea-free) cat covered in scabs?
take her to another vet to find out why this is happening.
Reply:I had an Irish Setter just like that I started to give her canola oil in her food %26amp; it all went away but too about a month or so. She suffers from dry skin %26amp; needs some oil in her system.
Reply:Though I doubt this is your situation, some cats will get scabs for what seems to be no reason but are actually the results of fights with other animals or just brushing through plants outside that might be prickly.
Reply:If it's not mange, then it may be just dry skin or something she's eating. Try switching her diet for a few weeks. That helped my cat. You can get soothing cat wipes that might make it feel better and maybe even make it go away.
Reply:I have a cat like that - she also looses her hair. she was an indoor/outdoor cat, but not she's just indoor - which has helped. it seems to be allergies and is worse in the summer/spring. I give her kitty vitamins to help. ask your vet if those moisture sprays and wipes will be good. i use them on my cat, but you may want to check with yor vet first
Reply:It could also be cat acne. One of our cats gets these scabs every year. Here's an article about it.
Reply:If you think it is dry skin try a little real butter in her diet. If you suspect allergies try a little children's benadryl . It will take a few days for either to show a affect on her. If it doesn't help have the vet do a culture on one of the sores to see if it is a staph infection.
Reply:well, I have a friend that has a cat that over grooms herself, and causes small sores, this could be the problem or she may have an allergy ask your vet about giving her small doses of benadryl or change her diet to an allergy diet, double check with your vet though
Reply:Allergies? I had a dog that had the same problem. She was allergic to grass. (of all the fleabags in all the pounds in all the world, I had to pick the one allergic to grass) Some cats have goofy allergies too.
Pretty Pattie had to have a steroid shot once a month to control it, which ultimately killed her. So good luck to you.
Reply:You are describing what is called "miliary dermatitis". Little scabs that can be around the neck and down the back. While flea bites are a common allergic cause, there are other possible allergies. Do you use a monthly flea preventative (like Advantage)? You might want to, as these cats are extremely sensitive to flea bites. Most cats are excellent at picking fleas off and swallowing them, so you don't generally find a lot of fleas on them. A cortisone shot is usually given to counteract the allergens, and are usually very effective. The vet can also prescribe oral cortisone so you can regulate the dose and only give if needed. Sometimes antibiotics are given to help with secondary skin infections.
More info: http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?...
Reply:Try changing her diet she could be allergic to some of the ingredients in her food. Try food like Burns or Arden Grange both are very natural food free of additives
Reply:Has Ringworm been ruled out?
Reply:Do you give her milk to drink? My cat had sores on her tummy area. The vet said it was a reaction to drinking milk. He gave me steroid cream to put on her skin. She's been fine ever since.
How can I sweep this girl off her feet?Girls?(Guys I Guess)?
I really like this girl a lot, but the thing is, she is more concerned with her school work(HS)( I'm a senior in HS) which is something I admire, but I really think that she is the girl for me. I just want someone to call my lady and someone I can hug in the winter, you know?
I'm tired of being a hopeless romantic. She is everything I have wanted in a girl, she is smart, attractive and has the sweetest voice and she isn't full of herself. She is slightly younger than me(roughly two years) but I can work around that. What can I say to her to make her like me? I am all out of ideas(or at least good ones).
What do you ladies like to hear from a guy that makes you like him? All helpful answers appreciated. Help me out here!!
Every time I think I have the right thing to say, it usually turns into mumbling.
How can I sweep this girl off her feet?Girls?(Guys I Guess)?
you have to respect that she is dedicated to her schoolwork. assure her that while grades are important she will regret it later if that is all she gets out of high school (i know because i did that in high school and college. i definately regret missing out on the chance to make stronger friendships and hang out with great people instead of just my dusty old textbooks.) tell her she can get her work done and hang out with you. tell her that she needs to take breaks sometimes and have some fun and it will help her do better at her work.
do you just want a girl or do you want her? if any old girl would do that might be turning most girls off. do not you want to feel special and cared about not because you are a warm body or a guy but because you are you? she does too. if you do not like her for who she is it might be hard if not impossible to win her heart. unless she is looking for a companion but you have to be honest with her and yourself about what you want and what your intentions are. if your feelings change that is understandable it is a part of life but you got to be truthful.
remember there is not some magic formula that can be said to make a girl attracted to you. every girl is impressed and drawn to different things. if you know what she likes you are more likely going to be able to get her attention. and make sure you are yourself because if you pretend to be something you are not you are doomed to fail because she will figure it out/find out. she would feel betrayed, be unable to trust you, and want nothing to do with you.
you are a sweet guy. let her see the real you. respect her. show her that you can fit in her world and not only can you fit in it you will make it even better.
there is not anything a guy says to make me like him. i just do i am attracted to his looks or personality given how we met. it is his personality that will make me want to stay and be with him and not some other guy. a sweet caring understanding guy who listens to me. a guy who wants to be with me and is honest. a guy who treats me with dignity and respect.
what do girls like to hear. i like to hear the truth. i like to hear what he thinks about things. i like to hear him talk about his passions/interests/hobbies. i like to hear about his day.
what does a girl want her the guy she likes to say. that he likes/loves her. that he likes how she looks. that he admires what she does. that he supports her interests even if he will not do them if he encourages her independence and individuality by supporting her hobbies it is a major turn on. that he will be there for her and is committed to her. that he will support her dreams. granted there are some things that are appropriate any time but others are better for when the two have known each other awhile.
for some people it is not the words it is their actions that speak much louder. i like nice words and all but if the actions do not match then forget it then it is just a bunch of crap. my father can talk about all this great stuff but his follow through and sincerity left much to be desired, so for me sadly words can be weak generally it is the action that gets my attention and convinces me of something. you might want to consider reading or skimming the five love languages by gary chapman, phD. the five love languages are: acts of service, gifts, physical affection, words of affirmation, and quality time. if you try to woo her with words but that is not her thing you might just wind up wasting your time and energy because she will not be getting the message you are intending.
your biggest challenge might be convinving her she can be with you and achieve her academic goals. also realize she might not care what you say and might be more concerned with what you do.
best wishes!
Reply:It's always...What can I say to get her to like me".
Have you ever thought that maybe the problem isn't the words, its you?
I'm not saying u suck but because of society you're probably like most guys and suffering from the following symptoms:
Giving women you like everything you can
Trying to impress women (this includes trying to say something to get her to like u)
Being needy and wanting her to love you
Not giving her any space
Letting women control you
If any of those things you can relate to its something you need to fix. Because no girl likes any of those things unless shes got really low self esteem.
Get her to like you...don't try anything. Just be who you really are. The REAL you, not the real you. Big difference.
REAL YOU= The way you really are without all those social personas and masks you develop to prevent being caused anxiety from peers
real you= the fake way guys act around girls...overly nice, giving compliments, etc etc.
See, when guys are all nice to women they're usually being really fake because they're not like that in real life. They're trying to impress her. Be the REAL you and do with her what you would do with your closest friend. If you pay for your friends dinner, pay for hers. Otherwise, she can pay herself.
Reply:Sometimes the written word is a lot more powerful than speech. You get to say everything on your mind, proofread it, perfect it and speak from your heart. You can't make her like you but you can let her know you like her. You just said such nice things about her to the rest of the world. Why not say it to her. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. If you don't appeal to her, move on and don't brood about her. Sounds like you have very good taste. I hope it works out in your favor.
Reply:since she is a few years younger than you, offer to help her on her homework. talk and hang out for a while to create a friendship first, then take her out star gazing after a night of homework or on the weekend and tell her the stories of the stars. make them up if needed, it still steals a girls heart. even better if it is a colder night, because then, most likely she will get cold and want to cuddle to get warmer. every girl loves a guy who takes them star gazing. good luck!
Reply:offer to help her with her homework. go out of the way to make sure she is feeling good and not stressed. if you're thinking flowers and love poems, well that's nice but kinda overrated.
Reply:ask her out or if your scared get ur friends to go to the movies together or out to eat trust me all a girl wants is a nice guy to go out with and you sound like one Hope I could Help =)
Reply:That's a tough one, the one and only..
If you like a challenge, then I'd say give it a go.
Though you could also consider that someone would seek you out for warmth and affection. It's not necessarily incumbent on a guy to pursue a girl. There has to be some kind of back and forth that both of you are sparked by.. not just one of you.
This girl you write about sounds like she's not thinking about that back and forth. It sounds like she's occupied right now. I'd let her do what makes her happy and then keep an eye out for someone I can share a smile with.
Best luck.
