Now, my co-mates and brothers in exile,
Hath not old custom made this life more sweet
Than that of painted pomp? Are not these woods
More free from peril than the envious court?
Here feel we but the penalty of Adam,
The seasons' difference; as, the icy fang
And churlish chiding of the winter's wind,
Which, when it bites and blows upon my body,
Even till I shrink with cold, I smile and say
'This is no flattery: these are counsellors
That feelingly persuade me what I am.'
Sweet are the uses of adversity,
Which like the toad, ugly and venomous,
Wears yet a precious jewel in his head;
And this our life exempt from public haunt,
Finds tongues in trees, books in the running brooks,
Sermons in stones, and good in every thing

Well, the dialogue is written in iambic pentameter, which is the rhyming form most similar to spoken english. Each sentence has ten syllables, and five syllables are stressed. Thus the rhyming structure is similar to that of John Milton's 'Paradise Lost'.
The motivation of the character seems to be that they are disgusted by the world of pomposity and order, and of society, and now they are out of that world, they can look back on it and laugh. Their aim is to instruct the audience that the world of ordered society is nothing compared to the inherent goodness in nature, which, though harsh, is fairer and more bearable.
Good luck with your assignment/exam/whatever. I hope this will help you get an idea for what you should write, as well as use it as a bounce board to allow you to examine other ideas and techniques (it is your assesment, after all, you should take pride in it and work hard!). Good luck again!
Reply:Oh...good luck with all of that.
Reply:Thats from as you like it. It's been a long time since I took a shakespeare class. Its basically saying that life is better for us because adam ate the apple and we live in a real world rather than eden. Even though this life is harder, we can experience and learn more so its better. We aren't bound by one particular code, we can experience everything. and by experiencing we enrich our existence. Thats the precious jewel. Hope you can piece together the rest from that. Thats like a page long essay to do the whole thing and I already have my lit degree so I already did my time.
Reply:Why?
