Music suggestions for me?

I am a big fan of music. I also like a fairly wide variety. Though, I'm not really into the newer mainstream stuff. I despise rap (no offense meant) and the rock which is labeled "emo" (again, no offense meant). Here is a list of the musicians on my iTunes library. However, this list doesn't even compare to the bands/artists in my CD collection. But, if there is a band or artist that you think I may not have and think I would like, please say so! Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

Reply:maroon 5
Reply:maroon 5!!!! i personally am in love with their new album which have songs with a great variety of pop songs!
Reply:Well try these songs (and other from the same artist but these one you will love them). I'm sorry if I repeat a song you or the ther says:

A-ha - Take on me

Alphaville - Forever Young (unplugged version if possible)

The Darkness

Keane

The Urge - Stereo

Deep Forest - album: Music Detected
Reply:Quite a variety, indeed. Here's a few you may not have tried:

Adrian Belew

Aqualung (not the Jethro Tull song, the band. Which, strangely enough, really isn't a band, but more a solo artist. But I digress...)

Auf Derr Maur (which really IS a band, but is named after the lead singer....ok, I'll stop...)

Bettie Serveert

The Bobs (REALLY good a capella group.)

The Breeders

Earlimart

The Green %26amp; Yellow TV (yes, that's the name of the band.)

Heather Duby (wonderful singer from Seattle)

Kate Bush (You HAVE to have Kate Bush!)

Leigh Nash

Los Straitjackets (Care for some surf rock?)

Mike Doughty (Lead singer of Soul Coughing)

Minus The Bear

Oingo Boingo (Get "Dead Man's Party", if nothing else.)

Puracane (Things You Should Leave Alone - Great CD!)

Talk Talk (One of those bands you'll probably either love or hate.)

Utopia (if you like Todd Rundgren, there's a good chance you'll like his band. Personally, I like the 80's version of Utopia, but the 70's stuff is pretty darn good, too.)
Reply:wow, uh, maybe some Dead Kennedys? or Siouxsie %26amp; the Banshees, yeah yeah yeahs, the mutants, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Rilo Kiley, the blow, blonde redhead, the gun club, the kills, metric, old time relijun, the outsiders, maybe even some cocorosie.
Reply:That's a great list! It looks alot like mine. Here are some possible additions:

Badfinger

David Grisman (if you don't mind instrumental)

Jerry Garcia (solo stuff)

Alison Krauss %26amp; Union Station

The Indigo Girls

The Honeydogs

Erin McKeown (a hidden gem!)

Steve Howe (more instrumental- the guitar player for Yes- he's amazing)

Tori Amos

and here's 5 more (edit) that come to mind:

Suzanne Vega

Crash Test Dummies

Jack Johnson

Ellis Paul

David Gilmour (Pink Floyd's guitarist %26amp; shared vocalist)

enjoy
