Toward the gardens,
Toward the orchards,
I am going.
If you want to stay here,
Stay here -
I am going!
My day is dark without His Face,
Toward that bright flame
I am going.
My soul is racing ahead of me.
It says, The body is too slow for me -
I am going.
The smell of apples arises
from the orchard of my soul.
One whiff and I am gone -
Toward a feast of apples
I am going.
A sudden wind won't blow me over.
Toward Him, like a mountain of iron,
I am going.
My shirt is ripped open
with the pain of loss.
Searching for a new life,
with my head held high,
I am going.
I am fire, though I seem like oil -
Seeking to be the fuel of His fire,
I am going.
I appear as a steady mountain
Yet bit by bit,
Toward that tiny opening
I am going.
2-Look at Love...
Look at Love...
how it tangles
with the one fallen in love
look at spirit
how it fuses with earth
giving it new life
why are you so busy
with this or that or good or bad
pay attention to how things blend
why talk about all
the known and the unknown
see how unknown merges into the known
why think separately
of this life and the next
when one is born from the last
look at your heart and tongue
one feels but deaf and dumb
the other speaks in words and signs
look at water and fire
earth and wind
enemies and friends all at once
the wolf and the lamb
the lion and the deer
far away yet together
look at the unity of this
spring and winter
manifested in the equinox
you too must mingle my friends
since the earth and the sky
are mingled just for you and me
be like sugarcane
sweet yet silent
don't get mixed up with bitter words
my beloved grows
right out of my own heart
how much more union can there be
If you like poetry , could you give me your idea about these poems of Rumi?
Afshin A.,
Thanks for showing me that. I enjoy short poems. His style seems a bit disconnected to me. not that I am anyone to listen to. And that part about "look at your heart and tongue", perhaps that was a choice in the translation? I think that perhaps a better word than 'look' could have been used if it was drawn from a different language.
Don't you?

Reply:Seems Rumi is lost and don't know exactly where he is going.
Either or Heaven or Sheol. What other place could there be. If he knows where he is going, he would've stated it in a certain way, where the reader would catch it clearly based on his own certainty or uncertainty.
In heaven God is the consuming "fire" and in "hell" there are flaming fires as well, so it really is confusing. In contrast with the gardens or archards, they could be an illusion only.
