Any (obscure) music suggestions?

I'm up for suggestions! I made a list of the music that is on my computer so you can get an idea of what I listen to. As you can tell, my music taste varies. However, I despise most of the popular bands (okay, ALL) bands of today. Also, keep in mind that I have many more artists on CD that isn't on my computer so they are not listed....so, try to be as obscure as possible. Thank you!

Any (obscure) music suggestions?
Some albums:

"The Way Of The Vaselines" by The Vaselines (quirky Scottish group, now defunct, influential on Nirvana)

"L'Amour Fou" by Kanda Bongo Man (soukous music from Zaire - brilliant guitar playing and very uplifting)

"Barbed Wire Kisses" by the Jesus %26amp; Mary Chain (it's a best-of, but as you don't have any, it's a start : )

"45s And Under" by Squeeze (great melodic pop from a songwriting duo who were heralded as the new Lennon-McCartney. Not quite, but worth checking out)

"Beers, Steers + Queers" by Revolting Cocks (the weirder side of industrial)

"Architecture %26amp; Morality" by Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark (elegant early electronica from 1981)
Reply:I'd recommend; Gong, The Dukes of Stratosphere (an alias of XTC), Caravan, Camel and Ozric tentacles. Report It

Reply:Wondrous! String Band.. ahhh, this moment is diff'rent from any before it.. *sigh*.

However, can't spend all night hangin' around in a fog of memories of my singularly misspent youth; try these:-

Bonzo Dog Doodah Band

Caravan

Gene Clark

John Renbourn

Maddie Prior

Ozric Tentacles

Roger McGuinn

Steeleye Span
Reply:Clashy, Who-ey, early punk-rock stuff: The Jam, The Saints, The Damned.

Awesome Canadian bands little known outside of Canada (at least, not on your list) - Blue Rodeo (especially older stuff), the Tragically Hip, Barenaked Ladies, and for a touch of brilliantly done Newfie/Celtic/rock/etc, Great Big Sea.
Reply:Ha! Found one. Style Council.

Your stuff is VERY comprehensive. Was delighted to see the String Band in there....

Plastic Ono?

Alan Price?

Georgie Fame?
Reply:GOOD TASTE IN MUSIC !

Reply:i looove your music choices...you have a lot of old rock which is cool....so for a really obscure suggestion you should check out Evergreen Terrace...i'm just getting into them but i love them already...to get intro'd to them check out some songs from their "writer's block" album where they coverd a lot of good songs and they sound really good my fav song from that album is the mad world cover but you should check out their "wolf biker" song and "stars" too

to forewarn you they are little more metal than most of your bands but they are pretty sick :)

EDIT:

and for 2 people below me....i looove death cab for cutie....you should really check them out....start with their newer stuff though because their old stuff is kind of iffy unless you've heard them a lot and know what they ARE capable of :P

P.S. EDIT:

hey if you want to chat about music or whatever just hit me up on yahoo messenger even if it says away i'm prolly here answering people's questions
Reply:Your list looks a lot like mine.

Reply:If you love Tom petty and the Wallflowers, ou'll love this band called 34 Satellite. They kinnda broke up a while back and only made 2 albums, but I found them a mazing. Their albums are called Radar and Stop, but good luck finding them, it took me a while to find them. Hope you enjoy them.

There's a band called the Kings of Convienence and they sound like the modern Simon and Garfunkel, absolutely amazing.

The Shins are kinnda well know but I love them and think you would too.
Reply:Oh... You've already got King Crimson. I didn't know that anyone other than me listened to them!

Try The Police, U2, and Adrian Belew. Especially Adrian Belew. The Police and U2 aren't exactly obscure, but Adrian Belew is. He shouldn't be. He's one of the best guitarists ever.

Here's a piece of his stuff;http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseac...

Watch the Life In A Nutshell one.

These aren't really the best quality, get his CDs "Side One, Side Two, and Side Three for that, but they give the general feel of his music.

They're the bands that Iisten to other than what you have listed, and it looks like our tastes are pretty darn simmilar.
